![]() "I never dreamed . . . " - Frederick B. Abramson As a distinguished member of the Washington legal community, Frederick B. Abramson was a private practitioner, and served as President of the District of Columbia Bar and Bar Counsel to the Board on Professional Responsibility of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Growing up in Harlem, he received a scholarship to Yale University and graduated from the University of Chicago Law School. Fred never forgot his roots or how crucial education was to his success. During his professional life he became a mentor and role model to courageous young people pursuing their dreams of education. After his untimely death, friends and colleagues sought to honor his memory and continue his commitment to young people by creating the Frederick B. Abramson Memorial Foundation. The Frederick B. Abramson Foundation is a college access program which was created to mentor and give scholarships to graduating seniors from the D.C. public school system. Many of the scholarship recipients need the funds in order to fulfill their educational dreams. The scholars have overcome extraordinary circumstances to graduate from high school with solid academic standing and be accepted into college. It is time for the brokerage community to invest in D.C.'s youth and see a return on the investment. The Brokerage Challenge is a goal to get each of the brokerage firms in the DC. Metropolitan area to sponsor one scholarship recipient at the $2,500 level. This investment in a D.C. graduating senior provides the following opportunities:
